Communications, Social Media and Extras

At Platinum Preschool, we take confidentiality seriously. All staff are committed to maintaining privacy around all matters concerning children and families. Information shared with us, whether it’s part of your child’s records or a conversation, it’s treated with respect and professionalism.

Staff are not permitted to share details about any child with other families, including incidents where one child may have caused injury to another.

Any information shared by parents will only be discussed within the appropriate professional context at the centre.

As part of our commitment to keeping your child safe, we ask all families to provide at least two emergency contacts, responsible adults who can collect your child if you are unavailable due to illness, emergency, or unforeseen circumstances.

In the rare case a child remains at the centre after hours and no contacts can be reached, we are required to follow protocol by notifying the Department of Education and Communities or the police. Based on their advice, the child may be released into police care.

You’ll also need to nominate an adult (over 18) who is authorised to:

• Consent to medical treatment
• Administer or approve medication
• Accompany your child to an external medical centre (e.g. a GP or
• hospital)

Social media is a great way to connect and share the wonderful learning and experiences happening at Platinum. We use platforms like StoryPark, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube to share learning updates, upcoming events, and moments worth celebrating.

All photos or videos are carefully reviewed by management before being shared. Children shown will always be appropriately dressed, engaged in suitable activities, and no personal details will ever be included.

Your child’s participation in social media is entirely up to you, please refer to the enrolment form to indicate your preferences. For more details, feel free to ask for a copy of our Social Media Policy.

To ensure everyone knows what to do in an emergency, we practice evacuation and lockdown drills with the children at least every three months.

These sessions are carried out in a calm and reassuring way and follow procedures approved by the Police. After each drill, we evaluate how it went and make any needed improvements to keep everyone safe and prepared.

Every educator at Platinum Preschool is a mandatory reporter under child protection law. This means we are legally required to report any suspicions of child abuse or neglect to the Department of Education and Communities.
